Privacy is the point
Privacy Policy
These games can get personal, so we hold as little as possible. The short version: we keep your account, not your answers. The things you share with each other during a game aren't saved on our servers by default — and free trials are gone the moment you close the tab.
01 Our one big principle
We save metadata about what you did on the platform — not the data you generated while doing it. Which games you favorited and your settings are metadata, and that's fine to keep. The specific answers, dares, and details that pass between you and your partner during a game are generated content, and those are not saved by default. Data we don't have can't be leaked — that's the whole idea.
02 What we don't keep
By default, the following are not stored on our servers:
- The answers you give during a game.
- Any matches, mismatches, or surprises a game surfaces.
- The specific cards, prompts, or scenarios you saw.
- Recap details — the story of what happened during a night.
- Personal preferences or partner-specific details shared in play.
If a game offers a recap, it's generated as a file you download to your own device — we don't keep a copy. If we ever build an opt-in "save my history" feature, it would be off by default, clearly labelled, and described with its own retention and deletion terms. We won't quietly switch it on.
03 What we do keep
To run an account and a subscription, we hold the minimum needed:
- Account basics: your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Billing & entitlement: your plan, subscription status, and a customer reference from our payment processor. We don't store full card numbers — the processor handles those.
- Preferences & usage metadata: favorited games, last-played game, default vibe/settings, and account-level options.
- Basic operational logs: the kind of technical and security information a web server needs to stay up and safe, kept briefly.
04 Cookies & local storage
We use a small amount of browser storage to make the site work — not to follow you around the web:
- Age confirmation: when you confirm you're 18+, we remember it in your browser's local storage so we don't ask every visit.
- Session: a cookie or token to keep you signed in and to link the display and the phone in the same game session.
We don't run third-party advertising trackers on the storefront.
05 Free trials save nothing
You can try a game with no account. Trial sessions are intentionally temporary — nothing from the play itself is stored, not on our servers and not in your browser. When the session ends, it's gone.
06 Service providers
We rely on a few trusted providers to operate — for example a hosting provider to run the site and a payment processor to handle subscriptions securely. They process the limited data described above only to provide their service to us, under their own contractual and privacy obligations. A current list of providers can be supplied on request.
07 We don't sell your data
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We only disclose data where it's needed to run the service (the providers above), where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
08 How long we keep things
Because we don't keep your in-game content, there's little to retain. Account, preference, and billing metadata is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, then deleted or anonymized. Operational logs are kept only briefly.
09 Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we deliberately don't store your personal game content, most of what we'd return is your account and preference metadata. You can update or delete your account from your settings, or contact us to make a request. We'll respond as required by applicable law.
[Counsel to confirm the precise GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA-CPRA rights wording, the verification process, and any region-specific disclosures before launch.]
10 Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold — including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. Our biggest safeguard is simply not collecting sensitive content in the first place. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
11 Adults only
InTheMude is for adults. The service isn't directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has used the service or given us information, please contact us and we'll remove it. See our Content Policy for more on our 18+ stance.
12 Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top, and for material changes we'll take reasonable steps to let you know. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
